Course description

SLS offers a 16-hour Mandarin Pre-Intermediate 1 Course for students who have completed Beginners 1 and 2. Available at our convenient Sydney CBD location during weeknights or weekends, our course is ideal for those who work full time. All language courses come with free training materials and you’ll enjoy our small class sizes for a great interactive learning experience. Upon completion, you’ll also receive a Certificate of Participation.

Who is this course for?

For learners who have the ability to understand simple sentences and want to improve in vocabulary and fluency.

This course for students who have finished about 100 hours of training in Mandarin Beginner 1 and 2.

Detailed Program:

Lesson 1: Expressing one’s ability – Expressing permission or prohibition

Lesson 2: Talking about one’s health

Lesson 3: Talking about something that has happened

Lesson 4: Expressing holiday greetings

Lesson 5: Changing money at the bank

Lesson 6: Making new friends

Lesson 7: Describing things – Comparing things – Buying clothes

Lesson 8: At the post office

Lesson 9: Talking about hobbies

Lesson 10: Asking for reasons – Hurrying somebody up – New Year’s greetings

All classes need a minimum of 5 students to go ahead.

Alternatively, we may re-schedule the course to get more enrolment or still offer the course for 4 students with a slightly higher tuition fee with your agreement.

Teacher: Li Wen Chen

Li-Wen fluently speak 5 languages, namely English, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean and Taiwanese. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Modern Languages and an Honours Degree in Women's Studies and Sociology from Macquarie University.

Teacher: Mandy Qui

Mandy has a Master of Secondary Teaching in Mandarin and Geography teaching, a Master of Arts in TESOL and a Bachelor of Arts in English-Mandarin Translation and Interpretation. She has her Certificate IV in Assessment and training. She loves travelling, meeting with all kinds of people and learning new knowledge.

Teacher: Cecilia Deng

Qualification:
Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Chinese Studies from the University of Sydney.
Master of Education degree from the University of Melbourne.
As a native speaker of both Mandarin and Cantonese, I am equipped to teach these languages to learners of all ages and proficiency levels.

Work Experience:
With two years of teaching experience and one year of teaching in NSW secondary schools, I am fully qualified and accredited by the NSW Department of Education. I am adept at designing and delivering engaging lessons that address the diverse learning needs of students. I have a thorough knowledge of the NSW syllabus, including its structure, objectives, and outcomes, which I adapt to meet both adolescent and adult learners' needs. My lessons are well-organised and personalised, and complex knowledge is broken down to make it accessible for all students. I create a supportive, engaging classroom atmosphere that fosters students' interests.
