Course description

SLS offers a 16-hour Vietnamese for Beginners 1 Course for those who wish to learn basic conversational Vietnamese for the first time. Available at our convenient Sydney CBD location during weeknights or weekends, our course is ideal for those who work full time.

All language courses come with free training materials and you’ll enjoy our small class sizes for a great interactive learning experience. Upon completion, you’ll also receive a Certificate of Participation.

Who should join this class?

Vietnamese for Beginners 1 Students who have no knowledge of the language and want to begin a course of study to be able to communicate with a Vietnamese speaker/partner or friend.

Learners who have no knowledge of the language, wants to begin a course of study and wants to know
simple words and phrases to start communicating with a Vietnamese friend/partner/speaker

Expected Outcome
By the end of this course students will be able to:

recognise the tones when listening to a Vietnamese word.

tell and listen to the time
say numbers, weeks, months and years
order food at a restaurant
ask a receptionist at a hotel

bargain in Vietnamese currency

Please Note:

The enrolment fee must be paid at least one week in advance of the course commencement date.
All classes need a minimum of 5 students to go ahead.
If your course does not have enough students, it will be cancelled and you will be informed via SMS or email two days before the starting date. Alternatively, we may re-schedule the course to get more enrolment or still offer the course for 4 students with a slightly higher tuition fee with your agreement.

Teacher: Ngoc Tran Phan

Ngoc Tran Phan, or Tran, is a native Vietnamese speaker, originally from Ho Chi Minh City,
Vietnam. She is taking Bachelor of Pharmacy at University of Sydney. She is also a Vietnamese
teacher at SLS.

In high school, Tran studied the English language as her specialised subject at Tran Dai Nghia
High School. She also translated many Vietnamese-English articles on various topics in many
projects and clubs, and she has a good understanding of both languages and their structural
and phonetic features. She also speaks Mandarin at an intermediate level.

Tran is a great enthusiast for Vietnamese language, history, and culture. As a Vietnamese
teacher, she is willing to teach and share about Vietnamese, not only as a language but also as
a culture, in an interactive way with all her students.
