Yes, Sydney Language Solutions provides translation services for many foreign languages on top of the transcribing services.

Do you provide subtitles?

What are your transcribing rates?

Our transcribing rates differ depending on the languages required, length of the audio/video, the number of speakers, the quality of the sound file and whether or not you require translation services.

You can request for a custom quote by giving us a description of your job, when you need it delivered, and any special information you think we should know. We will then contact you with a quote within 24-48 hours.

Can you provide me with a quote?

Please include your full name, company name, phone number, mailing address, the languages involved, and attach the final script in the target language (if available).

How long are your quotes valid?

Every quote is valid for 30 days from the date of issue when involving our partners or other outside sources. If your project is completely an in-house project, we will honour our quote for 60 days.

What kind of payment does Sydney Language Solutions accept?

Sydney Language Solutions offers a range of method of payment.We accept payment by PayPal, Internet transfer/ Direct Deposit, cash/EFTPOS, and credit card over the phone.

What is your turnaround time?

Our turnaround time depends on the size of the script, the language of the source script, the availability of the voiceover talent and the need to transcribe and/or translate the source to another language.

You can contact us and explain your situation so we can provide you with an estimate of our turnaround time.

What influences turnaround?

The biggest influence for the turnaround time is audio quality. Even if your audio meets our minimum quality standards, lesser quality audio still takes longer to transcribe than better quality.

Audio with heavy accents, background noise, and/or highly obscure or technical content usually takes more time to transcribe and edit than crisp, clear audio. Long files, of course, generally take more time than short ones.

What file types does Sydney Language Solutions accept?

We handle MP3, MP4, and WAV, and most WMA/WMV files at this time. We usually can handle other types of audio and video but your order might take longer to process.

Do you transcribe verbatim?

Our standard transcription product is non-verbatim, i.e., we clean up the language, omitting “um,” “er,” “uh,” etc.; filler words and phrases such as “I mean,” “you know,” “like,” etc. (legitimate uses of such words are left in), false starts and redundancies (unless spoken with that intent). Quotations are an exception, they are transcribed verbatim.

We also may leave out conjunctions that are used to begin a sentence, e.g., “And,” “So,” “But,” etc., as they usually tend to be a distraction in written language.

You may request a certain level of verbatim, by leaving special instructions in the notes box, e.g., “Please remove ‘ums,’ ‘ers,’ etc., but retain filler words such as ‘gonna,’ ‘kinda,’ ‘like,’ as we want to retain the speakers’ character/jargon.

What format are the finished transcripts delivered in?

The finished transcriptions are delivered in Excel, plain text, HTML or RTF. RTF is a Microsoft Word friendly format. If you have the URL for a transcript, change the file extension (e.g., .txt) at the end to download the other formats.

When are timestamps placed?

Timestamps are inserted at the beginning of each speaker change, and if appropriate, (for instance in audio files with long monologues), at paragraph breaks.

Do you guarantee confidentiality/do you sign Non-Disclosure Agreements?

Yes, we guarantee confidentiality of all the work requested and require our transcribers to sign NDAs.
