Course description

SLS offers a 16-hour Russian Beginner 1 Course for those looking to learn basic conversational Russian for the first time. Available at our convenient Sydney CBD location during weeknights or weekends, our course is ideal for those who work during the week. All language courses come with free training materials and you’ll enjoy our small class sizes for a great interactive learning experience. Upon completion, you’ll also receive a Certificate of Participation.

Who should take this class?

Russian Beginner 1 Students who have no knowledge of the language, who wants to begin a course of study and to know simple words and phrases to start communicating with a Russian friend/partner/speaker

Program

Week 1   Russian Alphabets; Peculiarities of Russian sounds

Week 2   Numbers, Colours, Objects in your home

Week 3   Greetings; Days of the week, months, seasons

Week 4   Family; Main Russian verbs

Week 5   Finding places; Directions

Week 6   Travelling; Getting around

Week 7   Food: Dining

Week 8  Revision

Expected Outcomes:

By the end of this course students will be able to:

• pronounce all the sounds in Russian
• say hello, goodbye, thank you, and greetings
• tell and listen to the time
• say numbers, weeks, months, and years
• order food at a restaurant
• ask a receptionist at a hotel
• asking for direction
• get a taxi or buy a train ticket

Please Note:

• The enrolment fee must be paid at least one week in advance of the course commencement date.
• All classes need a minimum of 5 students to go ahead.
• If your course does not have enough students, it will be cancelled and you will be informed via SMS or email two days before the starting date. Alternatively, we may re-schedule the course to get more enrolment or still offer the course for 4 students with a slightly higher tuition fee with your agreement.
• If the course is cancelled due to low Enrolment, you will automatically receive 10% off next time when you enroll again into the same course

From 1 Jan 2022, given the widespread of Omicron and how it affects our students, we have to apply this policy and you are deemed to agree to this when enrolling into our courses:

– If you have enrolled and paid into your courses, and the courses have been confirmed to start, we cannot accept for any refund request or cancel the enrollment in case you are diagnosed with COVID or can’t travel for fear of COVID.  We can agree for you to postpone the courses to the next available course within 6 months only.

– If the course has been confirmed by email to start, we can’t refund.

– If the course has not been confirmed and you request to cancel enrollment at least 7 working days before course starting day, you are entitled to a refund with a deduction of $60 admin fee, as per our Terms and Conditions.
