Carol Luo
Qualifications:
Carol is currently completing a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery at UNSW. She has been developing her background in health sciences through her studies and clinical training in a hospital environment.
Teaching Experience:
Carol enjoys the fulfilling experience of teaching, especially to health professional from overseas. She has worked as a tutor for primary and high school students in all areas of mathematics and science, as well as a mentor and student leader. She has had further experience assisting international students with their speaking and writing skills in English.
Jaime Baquiran
Qualifications:
Jaime is a graduate of the University of Sydney, where he obtained a Bachelor of Medical Science with First Class Honours in physiology. He has worked as a research assistant at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead within the Children’s Cancer Research Unit. Jaime is currently undertaking extra curricular training in teaching principles of nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices to adolescents.
Teaching Experience:
With a background in both laboratory science and his current clinical training at the University of Sydney, Jaime brings to his teaching an integration of learning Australian English with understanding features of the Australian health care system, and it’s cultural approach to clinical care. All of these aspects are vital skills required to perform well in the Occupation English Test (OET).
Kevin Eggen
Qualifications:
Kevin has completed Bachelor of Science; Biology major & Kinesiology minor at UFV in British Columbia. He is now completing his medical degree (MBBS/MD) in Sydney.
Teaching Experience:
Kevin has helped international students learn and comprehend science-based material, so the OET program fit nicely into his experience. He understands how difficult it is for people to learn English as a second (or even third language) and always try to make the transition of learning english as simple and helpful as possible, and he is also aware of how important the OET is for health professionals looking to work in Australia in the field they love.
Leon Wang
Qualifications:
Leon graduated from the University of British Columbia with a degree in Biopsychology. He has developed a strong background in health sciences through his stints as a research assistant at the UBC Culture and Self Lab as well as the Brain and Mind Research Institute at the University of Sydney, where his work has been published in an international journal.
Teaching Experience:
Leon spent over four years serving in the Canadian Forces Army Reserves, where, as a medical technician, he gained a wealth of clinical and academic experience. During that time, he gave lectures on a variety of health-related topics such as bioterrorism and faciomaxillary trauma. In addition, he has experience as a language teacher, having tutored students in English, Japanese, and Mandarin.
Megan Lee
Qualifications:
Megan is a Medical Science graduate with Honours in microbiology at Sydney University. She also has TESOL certification from International TEFEL teachers training college. Megan has worked previously teaching ESL English to university students at Chungang University and at major learning insitutes in Korea such as YBM, CDI and SDA. In Sydney she has taught in James An college, SMART college and Samsung corporate training at Sydney Language Solutions.
Teaching Experience:
Megan’s enjoys teaching immensely. With her wide range of teaching experiences as well as medical knowledge, she is able to offer her students sufficient guide through both the language and health-specific aspects of the OET exam.
James Bergfield Qualifications: James is a graduate from the University of Sydney, holding a Bachelor of Science (Advanced) with majors in chemistry and biochemistry. He is currently studying a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Sydney. Teaching Experience: James has worked as a tutor for high school and university students in most areas of mathematics and science, and has helped write a textbook and teach classes for chemistry in the GAMSAT medical school admission exam. He has spent ample time in the surgical and medical wards at RPA hospital and so has a firm grasp of clinical communication in the Australian healthcare system. |
Anna Brzeska Qualifications: Anna is currently studying a Bachelor of Medical Studies/Doctor of Medicine at UNSW. She previously completed a Bachelor of Health at Macquarie University, which gave her insight into the different approaches to health and the healthcare system in Australia. She has spent 6 years working alongside other healthcare professionals as a medical administrator in a variety of settings, including specialist practice, general practice and hospital-based. She also has gotten her Certificate IV in TESOL. Teaching experience: Anna has volunteered with St John Ambulance for 7 years. She is a mentor for new members of her local Division and enjoys training many people from diverse backgrounds in first aid. Nadishi Athulathmudali Nadishi Athulathmudali is currently studying post-graduate Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Notre Dame. She has successfully completed a Bachelor of Science degree with a year of research honours, averaging a high distinction prior to beginning her career in medicine. Nadishi is an excellent communicator and has been a tutor for over four years. OET COURSE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I am not available during the weekends. Do you have any weekdays course?
Yes, we have a range of courses that you can choose other than the weekends. Please check our: OET 6-Week Weeknight Course, OET 7-Week Afternoon Course and OET 7-Week Friday Course. Occassionally, we might also have OET 2-Week Express Course or OET 1-Week Express Course on the weekdays.
I already took the 2 weeks of the OET Preparation Course. Can I extend to 5 weeks?
Yes, you can. However, you need to inform our admin staff and pay for the remaining amount before you attend further classes at least 5 days before the course starts/before the end of your 2-week session. You cannot attend any class without payment.
Do you provide the official OET examination? Can you provide assistance with the registration?
We do not provide the official OET examination or any assistance with the registration. For information about where to register, please check the official OET website.
I took the IELTS test before and I got around band 5.5-6.5. Will I be able to join your OET Preparation course?
Yes you can. We require students to have a certain level of English competency to maintain the quality of the teaching.
Are all the teachers native speakers from medical background?
All of our teachers are native speakers from medical background. They will assist you fully in improving your English to meet the standard of OET Examination.
Do we get some hints for the test during the classes?
Yes, you do. Our teachers will provide you with a lot of hints to complete the test successfully.
I am having my test very soon (1-2 week time) and I need to practice. Can I make arrangements to join the ongoing class?
It is advisable that you attend the whole course (5 weeks). However, you can join for only 1 or 2 weeks but you should be aware that the short duration of time may also affect your results.
Do we have a lot of homework?
Yes. You need to do a lot of homework at home as there is only a limited time in the class to provide you with the necessary skills and sample test segments to practice.
Do we learn 4 skills in one day?
Yes, you will learn all skills in one day. In the weekend course, the schedule for each skill will depend on the teachers and the number of students in the class.
In the weeknight course, you will learn reading on Monday, speaking & writing on Wednesday and listening on Friday.
Can we get a refund if we change your mind?
You can get a refund if you withdraw your enrolment AT LEAST 7 DAYS before the course starts. If you withdraw between 1 to 7 days before the course starts, you will be charged $40 for administration fees.
If the course has already started, we cannot refund your fee under any circumstances. However, we can issue you a credit note for the same amount so you can use it for another course in the future.
You will have free marking for all of your homework and a considerable amount of writing tasks that are provided by your teacher in the class.
