---|---|
There are many hundreds of Mandarin dialects. | 你好吗? Nǐ hǎo ma? How are you? |
Chinese sentence starts with a topic and following it by a comment. | 你叫什么名字? Nǐ jiào shénme míngzi? What is your name? |
Chinese does not have tense. | 谢谢! Xièxie Thank you! |

I am interested in your Mandarin class. Do you teach simplified Chinese or Traditional Chinese? What are the differences?
Mandarin classes at Sydney Language Solutions will teach you simplified Chinese, not Traditional Chinese. Mainland Chinese uses the modern version of characters whilst Chinese populations outside mainland China (Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao) are using the original traditional script. The basic difference between them is that the traditional form is still based on earlier characters and uses more strokes. The more modern simplified characters are a lot simpler.
What is Pinyin?
Pinyin is the official romanization system of Chinese. It is supplementary to the 5,000 year old traditional Chinese writing system.
Do we teach Pinyin in beginners’ level?
Sydney Language Solutions will teach in Pinyin for the first 2 levels: Mandarin Beginners 1 & Mandarin Beginners 2. These 2 courses will also focus more on Speaking & Listening.
We will go in depth with Chinese Characters from Mandarin Pre-Intermediate 1 course onwards.
