Course description
SLS offers a 16-hour German Beginner 1 Course for those who wish to learn basic conversational German for the first time. Available at our convenient Sydney CBD location during weeknights or weekends, our course is ideal for those who work full time.
All language courses come with free training materials and you’ll enjoy our small class sizes for a great interactive learning experience. Upon completion, you’ll also receive a Certificate of Participation.
Who should take this class?
German Beginner 1 Students who have no knowledge of the language, wants to begin a course of study and wants to know simple words and phrases to start communicating with a German friend/partner/speaker
Program
Week 1 Greetings and goodbyes; Pronunciation; Numbers; Articles: der, die, das; Special letters of the German alphabet
Week 2 Introductions (yourself, family members); Categorise some German nouns; Numbers up to 100; Countries; About the nominative case
Week 3 Express likes/dislikes/favourites; Formulate questions; Numbers up to 10000; Talk about hobbies; Use question words; Verb endings in the present tense
Week 4 Telling time; Birthdays; Days of the week; Months of the year; About the accusative case
Week 5 Reading and understanding basic German texts; Describe leisure time activities; Names of the seasons
Week 6 Recap of previous lessons; Currencies/money; use modal verbs
Week 7 Shopping in Germany; Agree/disagree with someone; Different secitons of a department store; Verbs “habeb” and “sein”; Irregular verbs
Week 8 Names of quantifiers; Names of clothing; Adjective endings; The perfect tense

Expected Outcome
By the end of this course students will be able to:

- say numbers, weeks, months, and years

- get a taxi or buy a train ticket

Please Note:
- The enrolment fee must be paid at least one week in advance of the course commencement date.
- All classes need a minimum of 5 students to go ahead.
- If your course does not have enough students, it will be cancelled and you will be informed via SMS or email two days before the starting date. Alternatively, we may re-schedule the course to get more enrolment or still offer the course for 4 students with a slightly higher tuition fee with your agreement.
- If the course is cancelled due to low Enrolment, you will receive a full refund and 10% off next time when you enroll again into the same course.
