Course description

 

SLS offers General English Course for kids aiming to improve their overall English skills in a short time frame during their holiday in Australia. The course will cover all fundamental English skills across Pronunciation, Grammar, Conversation and Listening. Classes are run at our convenient Sydney CBD location. The course includes with free training materials and you’ll enjoy our small class sizes for a great interactive learning experience. Upon completion, you’ll also receive a Certificate of Participation.

Who is this course for?

• If you stay in Sydney only for 1-2 months and want to improve your English in an intensive way, this course is for you.
• If you want to focus on improving your conversational skills as fast as possible in a month’s time
• You already have an eligible visa to stay in Australia
• You want to brush up your English as fast as possible but have no time than 1 month, or you have to start working next month

Program Details

You will learn the four skills of listening, speaking reading, and writing in a very intensive 4-week course. You will be required to speak a lot and get involved in various activities. As there are only a small number of students, you will have many opportunities for you to practise directly with the teachers what you have learned and become an “active” learner.

• Students will be assessed across all 4 skills after 2 weeks and individually counselled on their progress
• Class size is an average 4 – 8 students
• Students may go on a short educational excursion in the final week to practise their English
• Students will benefit from doing daily homework to consolidate their learning in class
• Students will learn a different skill each day with a different teacher
• Students will spend Friday morning practising listening to English Pronunciation in the office.

• We don’t provide any student visa or any relevant supporting paper to apply for it.
• You can finish this Entry Test to check the suitability of your level with the class
• Certificate: Presented upon completion of your course

Please Note: 

• Formal enrolment is only guaranteed upon completion of an online enrolment form and payment of the course fee.
• The enrolment fee must be paid at least one week in advance of the course commencement date.  Your payment will help secure the timely commencement of class.
• Classes are finalised and confirmed 4 working days before the starting date. If you wait for other students to pay and make a payment within the 3 days preceding the starting date, it will be too late because we may have to cancel the course if we don’t receive 5 paid enrolment by then
• Without payment, your enrolment will not be secured if your course is popular and we received enough paid enrolment before starting date. Therefore, we recommend you always make payment at least one week in advance of the course commencement date
• All classes need a minimum of 5 students to go ahead.
• If your course does not have enough students, it will be cancelled and you will be informed via SMS or email two days before the starting date. Alternatively, we may re-schedule the course to get more enrolment or still offer the course for 4 students with a slightly higher tuition fee with your agreement.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What level is the class?

• The levels of our English class are beginner level. However, at the beginning of each class, our teachers always conduct an Entry Test for the whole class. This means that after the first lessons, the classes will be divided into small groups according to level. That way, your kids will still learn exactly at their own level and progress well.

What age are the kids? Would my kids be too young or too old for the class?

• Children will be from 6 to 12 years old. If more than 6 students enroll, we will do our best to divide the students into 2 classes: one for junior children from 6-9 and one for older children from 10-12. If you have a group of 4 students or above, we can organize a separate group for you, but the cost may be slightly higher.

Do you have activities for the afternoon? What kinds of activities?

• During peak summer months, like January, February, April, July, and August, we will have an ALL-DAY Summer Holiday Package. This means students will have an English class in the morning from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, a 1-hour lunch break in between, and then outdoor activities in the afternoon from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. In other months of the year, we only run English classes in the morning. However, as long as you have a group of 4 kids, we can organize an afternoon activity for you.

Do you provide homestay accommodation and lunch?

• We don’t provide homestay ourselves, but we work with our partners. So we can refer you to these homestay services, and you can book it by yourself. We also can provide catered lunch per your request.

Can we customise the afternoon activities?

• We provide many fun activities to match the needs of your groups. To name a few, we can show you some beauty spots of Sydney, visit some universities, or participate in some sports activities (mini-golfs, indoor rock climbing). Do you offer make-up classes?

• We do not offer any make-up classes if your child is absent, but our teachers will review last week’s content. If you attend class and are absent for more than 50% of the course, we can allow your child to join the next available course, but we cannot issue a refund once the course is confirmed.

Can I join the course late?

• Your child can still join the course in the middle of the term and just pay for the remaining weeks. However, we require your child to have at least a 45-minute session with a private tutor [at an extra cost] before they join the course.

Do I have any discounts for siblings/friends/cousins to study together?

• If your child studies with a sibling/friend/cousin, each of them will receive a 5% discount on top of the 10% EARLY BIRD Discount.

Can I use the Creative Kids Voucher?

• Yes, if you are an Australian citizen and have the Creative Kids Voucher, you can redeem it with us to cover a partial fee. When enrolling on our website, please enter your Creative Kids Voucher ID number in the comment section. Use Code CKID to reduce the fee by $50.

When can I receive the EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT?

• If you enroll 2 weeks before the course starts, you will receive an EARLY BIRD discount of 10% off.

What should I bring?

• If you join the morning English class only without the afternoon activities, you don’t need to bring any lunch. They should also bring a bottle of water and a pencil case. If you join the English class with the afternoon activities, you should prepare and bring the following: lunch box, sunscreen lotion, hat, and a lot of water.

What will they learn?

• Our teachers will engage them in fun lessons, play-based activities, singing, story-telling, flashcards, and even videos or cartoons to help them practice the target language and build confidence. There are several ways and resources for kids to learn English (and not necessarily always books and papers), so we will engage all these ways so your kids will have a fun class during holidays, different from their formal schooling.

Do we have a Certificate of Participation for your child?

• Yes, we offer a Certificate of Participation for your child as long as he/she attends at least 70% of the course duration.

 

Please note:

• If the course is cancelled because of low enrolment, you will be refunded
• If the course has been confirmed by email to start, we can’t refund.
• If the course has not been confirmed and you request to cancel enrolment at least 7 working days before the course starting day, you are entitled to a refund with a deduction of $60 admin fee, as per our Terms and Conditions.

Covid-19 Policy: 

From 1 Jan 2022, given the widespread of Omicron and how it affects our students, we have to apply this policy and you are deemed to agree to this when enrolling in our courses:

– If you have enrolled and paid into your courses, and the courses have been confirmed to start, we cannot accept any refund request or cancel the enrolment in case you are diagnosed with COVID or cant travel for fear of COVID.  We can agree for you to postpone the courses to the next available course within 6 months only.

– If the course has been confirmed by email to start, we can’t refund.

– If the course has not been confirmed and you request to cancel enrolment at least 7 working days before the course starting day, you are entitled to a refund with a deduction of $60 admin fee, as per our Terms and Conditions.

– Sydney Language Solution reserve the right to switch Face2Face class to online when:

• The course trainer/teacher is affected with Covid-19 in the middle of the course
• Three (or more) students in the courses are diagnosed with Covid-19
