Course description
SLS offers a Dutch Pronunciation Course for Dutch speakers who wish to improve their speaking skills through increased fluency and accuracy in Dutch pronunciation. Available at our convenient Sydney CBD location during weeknights or weekends, our course is ideal for those who work full time.
All language courses come with free training materials and you’ll enjoy our small class sizes for a great interactive learning experience. Upon completion, you’ll also receive a Certificate of Participation.
Who should take this class?
Dutch Pronunciation for Pre-intermediate (and Advanced) levels
Would you like to sound more Dutch? Do you wish to improve your pronunciation and speaking skills?
Have you got some existing Pre-intermediate/ Advanced level of Dutch but want to improve specifically your pronunciation?
If so, our pronunciation course is for you. In class we practice common conversation situations (in a work and cultural social setting) with working at your pronunciation.
Course Details:
- Understanding how sounds are formed
- The accent in a word
- Sentence stress and natural Dutch intonation
- Identifying individual trouble sound spots and practice/improve these.
Brief Course overview:
Week 1: Introduction of Dutch Pronunciation: How sounds are formed: Phonology and phonetics of Dutch language; Dutch dialects; the Alphabet;
Week 2: Vowels and pronunciation of long vowels, double vowels, open vowels and combinations
Week 3: Diphthongs au/ou; ei/ij, eu, oe and ui and the voiceless unstressed E sound the schwa)
Week 4: Consonants and double consonants; Sentence stress and natural Dutch intonation
Week 5: In the spotlight: the consonants: “F, V & W”; R, “CH, G & K”
Week 6: Foreign Words; Exceptions & irregularities

Please Note:
- The enrolment fee must be paid at least one week in advance of the course commencement date.
- All classes need a minimum of 5 students to go ahead.
- If your course does not have enough students, it will be cancelled and you will be informed via SMS or email two days before the starting date. Alternatively, we may re-schedule the course to get more enrolment or still offer the course for 4 students with a slightly higher tuition fee with your agreement.
- If the course is cancelled due to low Enrolment, you will automatically receive 10% off next time when you enrol again into the same course.
