Course description

Course Title: Coding for Kids: Scratch Adventures (Ages 7-10)

Course Description:

Welcome to Coding for Kids: Scratch Adventures! This exciting, hands-on course is designed for young learners aged 7 to 10 who are eager to dive into the world of programming. Using Scratch, a fun and intuitive visual programming language developed by MIT, kids will embark on a creative journey to bring their imaginations to life through coding.

Throughout this course, children will explore fundamental coding concepts in a playful and engaging environment. They will learn to create interactive stories, animations, and simple games by dragging and dropping colorful code blocks, which helps to build their problem-solving skills and logical thinking. Each lesson is crafted to be both educational and entertaining, fostering a love for technology and learning.

Key Learning Objectives:

Introduction to Scratch: Understand the basics of the Scratch interface, including sprites, backdrops, and blocks.
Basic Coding Concepts: Learn about sequences, loops, and events through interactive projects.
Creative Problem Solving: Develop critical thinking skills by designing and troubleshooting their own projects.
Collaboration and Sharing: Work on group activities and share creations with classmates, encouraging teamwork and communication.

By the end of the course, students will not only have a solid grasp of coding fundamentals but will also have developed a portfolio of their own fun and imaginative projects. SYDNEY LANGUAGE SOLUTIONS is a registered provider of the CREATIVE KIDS PROGRAM
When enrolling into Language for Kids course at Sydney Language Solutions, you can redeem your $50 CREATIVE KIDS VOUCHER when you enrol on our program.
Enrolling 2 weeks before starting day to receive 10% off, so you only need to pay $316.8 if enrolling at least 2 weeks before the course starts. So if you use Creative Kids Voucher $50 and pay 2 weeks in advance, you only need to pay $266.8 for the whole term!

How To Get The Free $50 Creative Kids Voucher?

Visit service.nsw.gov.au/campaign/creative-kids.
Create or login to your MyServiceNSW Account.
Complete a Creative Kids application through your MyServiceNSW Account. You will receive a voucher with a unique ID number for each child you register (available to download, print and email).
Redeem your voucher with a unique ID number on SLS ONLINE ENROLMENT FORM by using coupon code ‘CKID’ at checkout. The $50 will automatically be deducted from the total fee and you only need to pay the remaining by eway, EFTPOS or Paypal online.
It is compulsory that you must add your voucher details and your child date of birth into your enrolment form. Without these details, we have to reject your enrolment.

Please Note:

When enrolling, the voucher will be redeemed immediately by Sydney Language Solutions and will be non-refundable and non-transferrable.
Please always register with both the parents’ name, contact details and the children’s name.
The enrolment fee must be paid at least one week in advance of the course commencement date.
All classes need a minimum of 5 students to go ahead.
If the course does not have enough 5 students, it will be cancelled and you will be informed via SMS or email 4 working days before the starting date. Alternatively, upon having your approval, we may re-schedule the course 2 weeks later to get more enrolments or we will offer the course for less students with 25% less hours than 15 hours.

Teacher: Mizuki Kayanuma

I am currently in the Bachelor of Arts (Major in Japanese & Minor in Chinese) with Bachelor of Education (Secondary) at Macquarie University. I have been teaching HSC format Japanese continuous, extension, and heritage level as well as a university student who has taken Japanese as their major in a private tutor. I will try my best to listen to individual students' feedback and point outs about my classes, I want to create the most joyful class with all the students.

Helen is a self taught artist of 8 years. She is a first year university student at UTS studying Business and Science in Information Technology.

Helen has experience in mentoring students during her high school years through both peer support and a mentor/mentee program. With communication skills, she has an understanding of how to create a fun, supportive, and engaging learning environment.

She is knowledgeable in her experience with art having explored both traditional and digital mediums. She is capable of utilising different mediums in her art and encourages students to do the same.

Teacher: Abbie Barr

Abbie Barr loves to share her passion for art and has enjoyed being a mentor in school programs to help younger children better engage with learning. She studies a Bachelor of Visual Communication and is learning to design the future. She is interested in cartooning and character creation, as well as making fantasy landscapes. She believes it’s important to draw your own story through your art, and that creative thinking is the key to leading an exciting life.
